WHAT SIN IS:

In dealing with sin, it's important to know exactly what it is. When asked to define sin, people will come up with multiple definitions. (most often, the things that the person does not like) One of the most spoken definition of sin is missing the mark, a failure to live up to something that was expected. This definition presents a problem and does not take into account that when a mark is missed, something is hit..!!  The best definition for sin is found in 1John 5:17, "All unrighteousness is sin"

BUT

God's word is your guide,  there are many symbols for God's word that is found in the Bible:

a mirror- James 1:23-25

a seed-  1Peter 1:23

a lamp-   Psalms119:105

a sword- Ephesians 6:17

The Bible serves as a measuring rod for our lives.

THE CURE FOR DOUBT:

The cure, for the most part, depends on the thing doubted ! But the real problem is not what is in question (for doubt), its the subject (the person) who doubts.  If you find yourself consistently doubting yourself or other, here's some food for thought:

Doubt really is unbelief in God and His word. Confess the doubt to God as sin. Romans 14:23. God, who cannot lie, has promised to hear us, as we confess even our darkness unbelief.

Make certain of your salvation, salvation from sin is by simple trust in Jesus Christ. Until you are assured of your salvation you will be troubled by enormous doubt.

Faithfully study the word of God, because "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". Romans 10:17. As we study and apply the truths of the Bible our faith is strengthen and matured.

The best way to face doubt when it arises is to pray. As we develop a history of answered prayer, our faith grows, and as our faith grows, we see God continuing to answer our prayers, we become stronger and stronger and the doubt  becomes less and less !!

TEMPTED:

Temptation is real and so is the devil. His role is well summed up against the child of God. He is hatefully opposed to all the work of God and will promote defiance and hatred among all people (Mark 4:15, Job 2:4,5). He still has access to God, therefore he stands and accuses day and night. His doom was secured by the death of Jesus on the cross (John 16:11), but he will continue to hinder the program of God until he and his angels are cast into the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41, Revelations 20:10).

This is how the devil works in the unbeliever:

he blinds their minds:  2 Corinthians 4:4

he takes the word of God from their hearts:  Luke 8:12

he controls them:  Acts 13:8

The response to Satan by the child of God is to recognize his power and deception:

2 Corinthians: 2:11

To hold steadfast to the faith: 1 Peter 5:9

To resist him openly:  James 4:7

Do not give him opportunities:  Ephesians 4:27

But the best way to oppose him is to be a "ever growing child of God", aggressively and compassionately witnessing to the lost in order to snatch them from the control of the devil (Acts 26:18).

Believers know that nothing can separate them from the love of God (Romans 8:28-39).

SUFFERING:

When one is suffering, it is difficult to stop and analyze why it is happening, but the Christian should do just that. One can suffer because of their "position' or their "disposition"!!  More times than not suffering is a 2 sided coin, it can be viewed as coming from God to bring out the best in us (Genesis 22:1).  Or the devil can use the same temptation and suffering to bring out the worst in us (James 1:13-14).

The believer can react to suffering in 3 different ways:

1. Despise it (treat it to lightly)

2. Faint under it (treat it to seriously)

3. Be exercised by it, receive instruction from it, learn from it.

Number 3 is the reaction that God desires (Hebrews 12: 11-13).

God is faithful to work all things out for our good and His glory. It is sometimes in our darkest hours that we prove how much we love God.

Sometimes we might wonder why a loving God would allow suffering, the Scriptures tell us it is to product "fruit".

1. Patience (Hebrews 10:36)

2. Knowledge (Psalms 94:12

3. Maturity (1 Peter 5:10)

4. To silence the devil (Job 1:9-12), as he accused Job for loving and serving God only for what He could give him.

The more we learn about our Maker, the better we will be equipped to deal with any issue and circumstance that come our way.

FLESH:

In the "natural", your skin is amazing, it is your body's biggest protector (your scalp also), when it is whole. It is at this time no infection can enter in. Spiritually the flesh is weak. It is opposed to God (Romans 8:7). O.K., it hates God!! Galatians 5: 19-21 gives an account of the actions produced by the flesh. Children of God can not have their life characterized by these sins. Although the flesh is strong, you do not  have to obey it. (Romans 7:15-25). You have a new nature empowered by The Holy Spirit. Because the flesh and the Spirit are totally opposed to each other, the believer has a choice to make. The Holy Spirit is your helper and will aid you in controlling your flesh. The believer should know that the power of sin was nullified by Jesus' death (Romans 6:11). You live in a moment-by-moment dependence in faith on the Spirits power.

SERVING:

Every one of us has a important job to do in the Body of Christ. Sometimes you look around and think that someone else is doing more than you are. Maybe they are, maybe they are doing something different. God "sets us up" for the job that He has for us to do, only we can do it, no one else can. God intended that the Christian life should be dynamic.  The Word of God is our guide, we should understand and apply it's implications and meanings and serve God and our fellow believers.

THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ACT OF WORSHIP:

God deserves all of the honor and worship that we can give Him. Throughout each day that we live, we should be honoring Him. We honor Him with the thoughts that we think, we, of course honor Him with what we say (this is a big one). We honor Him in public and in private, with no shame. We still honor Him with The Lord's Supper, (I Corinthians 11:26). The single most important act of worship is the unqualified presentation of yourself to God as a obedient servant. This involves the mind and the body (Romans 12:1). The body because the tools are contained within by which the will of God is carried out. The mind because it coordinates the actions to be executed by the body. When the two are in harmony and gladly devoted to God, they are then the instruments He will use to effect His will on earth. What a joy it is to love and serve God faithfully. This lifestyle will make one's whole life a single act of worship.

TRUTH:

There are some people who think that it is hard to tell the truth 100% of the time. There are some people who think it is ok to stretch the truth (lie) 50% of the time. There are some people, at this point who don't really know how much the "total truth" comes out of their mouth at any given time. Telling the truth is a standard that a person sets for themselves and their life. To control what comes out of the mouth (words) is simply a act of faith. The tongue, which is a small but very powerful part of the body must be held in check. People say what they say to impress, please or hurt another person, none of these are important. As members of the body of Christ we are to edify and strengthen one another with our words. If we ask the Father for help in controlling what we say to one another, He will give it. We are all still a work in progress, and how wonderful it is to know that we all can learn something new each day that we live. James 3:10 says that out of the same mouth comes blessings and cursing, these things should not be.

STANDING WITH JESUS:

Reading about Jesus suffering and death is one thing, "living it out is quite another". He certainly asked His Father not to make Him go through it, but His goal was to please His Father, and it did not matter what he had to do to obtain that goal. Jesus death and resurrection, on these two historical events rests the validity of the entire Christian faith. There has been no other sacrifice before or since that is greater. He was spiritually separated from his Father (Matthew 27:46) for a brief time, for mankind. The Father was punishing the Son for the sins of the world (1st Peter 3:18,

2 Corinthians 5:21). This was God's plan ( Acts 2:23), the salvation for sinners

(Isaiah 53:5).  Each day we must live out our love for Christ, we must stand for Him, just as He stood for us. Each and every life that has been supernaturally changed by believing in Jesus Christ , since the very 1st Century is a testimony as to how much God loves us. It is the mighty power of the resurrection that empowers all Christians (those who believe) to live a wonderful changed life.

HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY SHARE YOUR FAITH:

I travel, a great deal and I meet a lot of different people. I meet a lot of "different thinking people". It does not matter who you are and what think or believe, every knee will bow before Jesus Christ, sooner or later. With that being said, how people are approached and how they are spoken to, determines how you will be able to get their attention. In order to successfully share your faith, there are some rules to follow:

FIRST-we must be a clean vessel, Isaiah 52:11. King David (the sinner) prays for forgiveness and to be cleaned, upon receiving, he says "then I will teach transgressors thy ways and sinners shall be converted into thee, Psalms 51:13 (KJV). God does not demand silver or gold vessels, but He does require clean ones.

SECOND-we must be able to simply give out the facts of the gospel, without getting buried and bogged down with profound theological concepts Acts 8:35.

THIRD-we must at all cost avoid getting into any arguments with people. we must stick to the issue of man's sin and the blood of Jesus Christ. Quite often unbelievers will attempt to "side-step the gospel" by asking totally unrelated questions, for example, "where did Cain get his wife?'.

FOURTH-we must use the Word of God. Paul's great success as an evangelist can be linked directly to his continuous use of God's Word. Acts 17:2, 18:28, 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:14-17.

FINALLY-we must depend on the Spirit of God John 3:15, Acts 6:10, 1 Corinthians 2:4.

WHEN TO SHARE YOUR FAITH

All day, everyday, at any time of the day or night.

JUDGEMENT OF BAD:

The household mirror provides a excellent assessment of who has done wrong, sinned, lied, taken something that did not belong to them, ect... ect..., I think about "Judgement of Bad", as I was in a conversation about whether Judas Iscariot (one of Jesus disciples) is in heaven or not. Some accounts declare that Judas did repent of the sin (of betrayal), declared Jesus innocent and threw down the 30 pieces of silver. Other accounts simply say that he threw the money down and went out and hanged himself,  (Matthew 27:58)(and that is another whole story in itself).

What we do know is:

Jesus picked him, it was not the other way around.

Judas was a thief, he carried "the bag" (John 13:29) and he took from it. (Jesus knew this)

Judas had a agreement with the killers, "a kiss", to let them know who to take hold of.

last but not lease, Judas had a purpose, scripture had to be fulfilled for certain things to come to pass, to happen exactly the way that they did. Judas was a kind of scapegoat (Azazel), (Leviticus 16:8, 26), Through the centuries people,Christians have shaken their heads at him, making his sin much worst than their own. Jesus knew everything that Judas was going to do before he did it, guess what He did not put Judas out of the 12, He still LOVED him and He still prayed for him. Sin is sin, there are no little ones or great big ones, all sin produces the same result and that would be death.  But "watch this" Jesus died for our sins, (including Judas's). He laid down His life, no one took it from Him, because He wanted to do His Fathers will. Since He laid His life down for us and shed His blood for us, we can "plead it" over our very lives We can ask for forgiveness, no matter what we have done, knowing that if we truly repent, He will forgive us and remember our sins no more. How's that for loving someone!
